Advanced Railway Electronics Solutions

Advanced Railway Electronics

Our engineers design, develop, integrate, and test complex distributed mission-critical systems. This background provides us the skills and capabilities needed to help specify your system’s requirements and to verify that those requirements are met in complex integrated systems.

aE has helped technology organizations to reevaluate their operations and engineering processes and organizations. These reevaluations have resulted in improved efficiency and facilitated rapid growth in their product development and service delivery capability.

Positive Train Control (PTC)

aE provides an in-depth understanding of PTC. Our staff has over 90 years of experience in specifying, designing, integrating, and testing PTC solutions. aE has worked on PTC and other challenging distributed systems for 15 different railroads. Our staff has repeatedly proven its capability to dig into complex problems and provide innovative solutions that meet our customer’s needs.

Testing

aE develops creative custom solutions to test complex distributed command, control, communications, and monitoring systems. We use sophisticated simulation and test evaluation software combined with detailed test plans and procedures that allow us to rigorously test even the most complex system.

We have experience with analyzing complex system requirements and developing test programs to fully validate that the system is operating as intended.

Training

aE provides training to agencies, vendors, and other entities in the transportation industry. Our areas of expertise include the specification and implementation of industry standards, the implementation of Positive Tran Control, and the design and deployment of back-office services in the cloud.

Standard Support

aE supports industry organizations in their efforts to manage and promote standard programs. Our team understands the added benefits of implementing standards in day-to-day operations. We aid in the development, maintain the change management process, and package new releases for distribution.

Communications Based Train Control

aE was involved in the initial efforts developing IEEE Standards for CBTC. Currently, aE serves as a voting member of the industry CBTC standards family. We have worked extensively with Metropolitan Transportation Authority, New York City Transit on this initiative.

Digital Systems Solutions

Digital Systems

aE’s communication solutions make sure your data is where you want it, when you want it, the way you need it. We understand that today’s mobility makes it essential to your business that you have the best and most flexible communications solutions available.

Digital Vehicle to Infrastructure Networks

aE’s DV2I is a mobile routing system that uses a combination of the USDOT standard Dedicated Short Range Communication (DSRC), cellular networks, and Wifi to distribute data to mobile devices. DV2I allows for network redundancy while providing high bandwidth transmission.

XINGTM

XINGTM is an automated alert system for highway-rail grade crossings that monitors hazards at railroad-highway grade crossings and provides real-time alerts to designated authorities. XINGTM uses AI video analytics from on-site optical sensors with wireless communication to monitor, detect, and analyze potentially hazardous events. When the system detects a hazard or equipment defect, it reports it to the XINGTM server. The information is transmitted to the appropriate railroad dispatcher and local authorities in seconds via email, text messaging, and displayed on XINGTM Workstations. Railroad dispatchers, police, maintainers, and local authorities can then respond as needed.

The innovation of wireless emergency communication devices linked with the crossing monitor system, railroad entities, and local agencies in real-time provides a new level of information PRIOR to the crossing accident. This provides time to act and minimize or totally avoid the loss of property or life.

Passenger Info

aE’s Real-Time Passenger Information System provides current information for the convenience of transit customers on transit vehicles and at transit stops.

At the transit stop we provide:

  • Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) for approaching transit vehicles,
  • Estimated Time of Departure (ETD) for approaching transit vehicles,
  • Distance away for approaching transit vehicles,
  • Number of stops away for approaching transit vehicles,
  • Schematic maps of the transit route depicting the current location of enroute vehicles,
  • Instant display of emergency messages using text or graphics.

Onboard the vehicle we provide:

  • Visual indication of stop request and upcoming stops,
  • Current, next stop, and audio announcements.

About Us

About Us

Ayers Electronic Systems, LLC (aE) was founded in 2008 to develop and provide world-class standards-based products and services to the transportation industry.

We provide information management tools and services to agencies that allows agencies to manage their message to their customers including service information, advertising, and emergency information. Our products deliver this information to customers and agency staff on vehicles, at stations, and in the central office.

aE has the world’s largest library of message encoders/decoders and software applications that comply with the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) Transit Communications Interface Profiles (TCIP) standard. This allows us to rapidly develop, deploy, and integrate systems that meet our customers’ needs today and in the future.
